  Citral Citral is a collective term which covers two geometric isomers that have their own separate names, such as Geranial (trans-Citral) or Citral A and Neral (cis-Citral) or Citral B. It is in-soluble in water but soluble in diethyl ether and mineral oil. Citral is widely used for synthesis of ionones, vitamin A, sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, and linear monoterpenes, among others.
