Endocrine Testing Market Growth Is Attributed to Increasing Prevalence of Endocrine Related Disorders

Endocrine Testing is an important diagnostic technique used to identify endocrine hormone level in the human body. It is utilized to diagnose hormone-related illnesses. Endocrine system consists of various glands such as pituitary gland, thyroid, pancreas, hypothalamus, and adrenal glands. Hormones secreted by these glands are used to maintain various biological functions of the body. Thus, imbalance in the concentrations of hormones may lead to certain conditions. Endocrine testing is used to diagnose concentration of endocrine hormones, such as Prolactin, Human chorionic gonadotropin, Follicle stimulating hormone, Cortisol DHEA-S, Luteinizing, Thyroid, Insulin, Progesterone, Testosterone, and Estradiol.

Thus, there is an increasing demand for endocrine testing due to the increasing prevalence of endocrine related disorders such as hypergonadism, hypogonadism, diabetes, thyroid related conditions (hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism), and adrenal gland related conditions ( such as hypercorticism and hypoadrenocorticism). This in turn is expected to augment the Endocrine Testing Market growth. According to the American Thyroid Association (ATA), more than 12% of the U.S. population will develop a thyroid condition during their lifetime. An estimated 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease, and around 60% of those with thyroid disease are unaware of their condition.

This in turn is expected to increase the demand for endocrine testing in this region, driving the growth of the Endocrine Testing Market. Hormones play an important role in how we feel, think, behave, and overall maintain good health. In essence, hormones are responsible for the proper functioning of the body. Endocrine tests, which include blood and urine tests to check hormone levels, can help a doctor determine if a person has an endocrine disorder. Treatment can be complex, as changes in levels of one hormone can throw off another. It is of great importance for individuals over the age of forty to undergo yearly endocrine testing to ensure healthy living and proper health.

There are many disorders that may result to inadequate hormonal levels, such as osteoporosis, obesity, diabetes, infertility, heart disease, cancer, stress, and cognitive impairment. For the geriatric population, hormone deficiencies may lead to serious illnesses, such as stroke, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, and osteoporosis. The growth of the Endocrine Testing Market is driven by the increasing prevalence of the aforementioned diseases and the growing geriatric population across the globe. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), by 2050, the world's population aged 60 years and older is expected to total 2 billion, up from 900 million in 2015.

However, the diagnosis of various endocrine disorders are determined by evaluating different endocrine hormone levels in the blood.
