Fog Computing Is Also Known As Fog Networking and Is an Infrastructure That Utilizes Edge Devices In Order To Carry Out a Significant Amount of Communication, Storage and Computation

Fog Computing

Fog Computing is used all over the world, especially in regions such as Singapore, Italy, and United States. Fog computing is more precisely, a form of cloud computing that utilizes multiple networked edge devices to perform a significant amount of data processing, data storage, and communication, both internally and remotely. Fog computing is a method for distributing computer workloads over multiple physical or logical nodes in a large system. The nodes are located, wired in together, and communicate with each other via their copy of the routing table or an authoritative computer.

The concept of Fog Computing has matured over the past decade and can be described as follows. There are many nodes, all of which are running their applications and performing their calculations. However, they all have one thing in common-they all need to consume relatively similar amounts of bandwidth. As each device consumes less bandwidth, the overall effect on the network's capacity is decreased. This results in a decrease in the time it takes for a job to complete and a decrease in the time it takes to do real-time data analysis and business logic, which are crucial to modern businesses.

Real-time Fog Computing involves managing the communications between multiple edge devices through an adjoint understanding and data abstraction layer. The goal is to provide end-users with the ability to seamlessly interact with applications without the use of the software. To achieve this, computers must first exchange messages with one another over an understood protocol and then with the cloud servers where these messages are transformed into packets of data and sent over IP networks to the individual edge devices.

In regions such as Singapore, the increasing expansion of businesses has increased the usage of fog computing. For instance, according to Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, in 2018 there were over 400,000 registered business entities in Singapore. While some cloud storage providers offer services such as real-time analytics fog computing is still best implemented in an environment where data storage is not the primary focus of the provider. Many users prefer to use this service for backup or to retrieve information quickly when needed. There are many forms of fog computing, including RaaS, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, etc., which are just several of the terms used to describe the same concept.
