Players in Animal Wound Care Market Focus on Adopting Expansion Strategies Required To Support Accelerating Growth in Various Regions

Animal Wound Care

Products in the Animal Wound Care Market focus on quick removal of injured tissue/ foreign objects from the skin/blood vessel. In addition, the wound must also be protected from infection by covering it first with a nitrile dressing or similar sterile dressing and later by applying a light pressure dress on top of it. This way, the animal wound will heal faster and quicker, and the possibility of spreading of the infection to other parts of the body will be minimized. Also, timely administration of antibiotics will reduce the chances of recurrence.

Increasing adoption of pets is expected to positively impact growth of the Animal Wound Care Market. According to 2017-2018 U.S. Pet Ownership & Demographics Sourcebook of American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), 38.4% of household in the U.S. owned dogs compared to 36.5% in 2012. Prior to pet adoption, you need to make sure that your pets have no wounds, any cuts or bruises that will cause infections, and any open wounds. You can easily do this by taking them to the veterinarian, where X-rays will be taken as well as blood tests. An x-ray will determine whether there is a bone fracture (if there is any), possible injuries to the skin/blood vessel, and whether healing is taking place or not. On the other hand, blood tests will tell you whether the wounds are providing nutrients to the animal and whether they are conducive to bacteria growth. Antibiotic ointments and topical medications will also be prescribed.

Stringent regulations over use of antibiotics in animal feed is expected to limit growth of the animal wound care market. In the U.S. state of California Senate Bill 27—known as SB 27—aims to minimize the feeding of antibiotics to animals and it prohibits the use of antibiotics “solely for purposes of promoting weight gain or improving feed efficiency.”

For instance, in July 2020, The State Laboratory of Public Health identified a horse infected with Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in Brunswick County, U.S. Players in the animal wound care market are focused on adopting expansion strategies required to support accelerating growth in various regions. For instance, in May 2021, Sentrx Animal Care inaugurated its new 22,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.
