Pulse Oximeter Market |
A Pulse Oximeter is an electric device that measures the amount of
oxygen in red blood cells. It can be attached to the fingers, the forehead, the
nose, the foot, the ears, or the toes to measure the oxygen count in red blood
cells. It is a noninvasive, rapid, and continuous method of monitoring
oxygenation that allows for the early detection of changes in a patient's
clinical status. Modern pulse oximeters can measure the amount of red and
infrared light in an area of pulsatile blood flow. Blood oxygen saturation
(SpO2), pulse rate, and perfusion index are all measured by a pulse oximeter
(PI).
The rising prevalence of Cardiovascular
Diseases such as coronary heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and
others is expected to drive the global pulse oximeter market during the
forecast period. According to the World Health Organization, Cardiovascular
Diseases (CVDs) will be the leading cause of death globally in 2021. In 2019,
an estimated 17.9 million people died from CVDs, accounting for 32% of all
global deaths. 85% of these deaths were caused by a heart attack or a stroke.
The global Pulse
Oximeters Market is expected to be worth $3,426.3 million in 2022,
with a CAGR of 7.5% during the forecast period (2022-2030).
Cardiovascular Diseases were
responsible for 38% of the 17 million premature deaths (under the age of 70)
caused by noncommunicable diseases in 2019. Furthermore, the National Center
for Biotechnology Information estimates that the prevalence of coronary artery
disease (CAD) among Indians in 2020 will be 21.4% for diabetics and 11% for
non-diabetics. The prevalence of CAD was nearly half that of the urban
population in rural areas of the country.
Over the forecast period,
increased product launches are expected to drive market growth. For example,
Masimo, a global medical technology company based in California, USA, launched
Dual Set Pulse Oximeter in November 2021. The Dual Set Pulse Oximeters were
introduced by making specific technological changes to guide Critical
Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) screening, as well as adding the Eve CCHD
Newborn Screening Application. The inbuilt Eve application, customised to align
with a hospital's Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) screening protocol,
provided two simultaneous measurements of oxygen saturation (SpO2) at pre and
post ductal sites during the newborn screening.
